L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival highly values the Australian fashion industry and is proud to take an active role  in nurturing its future growth. The Designer Forum is a business event created to inspire, inform and excite fashion designers, brands and retailers.

In 2010 the Designer Forum will play host to a selection of internationally renowned guests to discuss and impart their unique knowledge and experiences that will assist the Australian fashion industry to make positive breakthroughs in both local and global markets.

The Designer Forum promises to leave attendees with resourceful methods of tackling key market issues while delivering innovative ideas for creative direction and global market penetration. All participating LMFF designers, brands and retailers are invited to attend this insightful event.

Special international guest host Gabriele Hackworthy: Fashion Director and Creative Consultant

The L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival is delighted to announce Gabriele Hackworthy as the Host of the 2010 Designer Forum. She will lead the panel of speakers as they share their insights and global networks to assist the Australian fashion industry in achieving positive breakthroughs in both local and global markets.

MICHAEL ANGEL
New York, USA

Michael Angel's career was strategically launched in the early years of the L'Oréal Melbourne Fashion Festival  where he performed a pivotal role as a Style Director. Moving to New York he spearheaded the creative direction for international brands including the refashioning of global brand Oakley.

For the past two years he has held the opening spot at New York Fashion Week with his own label. Michael is in a unique position to share his insight into cracking tough international markets. Michael navigates issues relating to the pace at which to strategically grow a brand, how and where to position it and how the product as well as overall brand image speaks to its global consumer base.

 

TONY GLENVILLE
London, UK

Tony Glenville will arrive in Australia direct from reviewing the international catwalks prepared to share his extensive insights into global trends, media shifts and how to survive fashion weeks around the world. An eloquent and entertaining commentator, he has worked with many of the greatest names in the fashion business.

Tony is the modern day renaissance man, a freelance journalist, consultant, educator, author and forecaster. His work has appeared in The Independent, Drapers, View on Colour, Textile View, French Vogue and The Financial Times. Tony joined Conde Nast in 1996 as European Editor at Large for Vogue Australia, later becoming Fashion

Director for Asia Pacific working with Vogue in Taiwan and Korea and the launch of Vogue Nippon. Tony combines being Creative Director: School of Media and Communications at London College of Fashion, with freelance journalism which includes being a contributing Editor to Harper's BAZAAR Australia.

 

LINLEE ALLEN
Los Angeles, USA

Australian born, Linlee Allen started her career as the Online Editor and co-host of Stylebyte TV before heading to Paris where she landed a job as a Fashion News Editor and commenced working in Public Relations for the famed retail mecca, Colette. Four years later, she relocated to Los Angeles and re-established her career as a writer and

photojournalist contributing to publications including: The New York Times, Harper's BAZAAR, Italian Vogue, The Daily Beast, V Magazine, www.style.com, i-D, Paper, GRAZIA, Purple Diary and LOVE.

In addition to consulting for select brands including Nike, PUMA and Sergio Rossi, Linlee also works as a US trend forecaster for international design companies. Much of her work, captured on her blog DELINLEE DELOVELY has been exhibited in Colette in Paris and is the subject of regular collaborations with art and apparel brands.

She is currently in the process of writing her first book, "Linleelife", a semi-autobiographical tale.
