Rufus Green

Q.

Describe the first thing you ever designed

A.

The first thing I ever designed was for a label we released in late 1999 called 'Urban Knight'. It was pair of ultra baggy Microfibre cargo pants that featured clip detail on the inside of the legs.

Q.

Describe your personal style in a sentence

A.

Personally I am not flamboyant, I like to keep it really minimal, the absence of colour features highly on my list though i really like touching on items featuring obscure intriguing detail.

Q.

Tell us something we might not know about you?

A.

I was born in Ottawa, Canada and I spent my youth in Christchurch, New Zealand.

Q.

What's your favourite piece from your current collection and why?

A.

My favourite piece from the new Rufus Green collection 'A Fate Worse than Death' would be the Wilted Sleeveless Disfunctional Cardi. There are many experimental blocks in this collection but this one in particular is the epitome of irregularity and has a great individual style.

Q.

Who is your favourite Australian model?

A.

Probably Jordan Coulter, Thor Engelstad photographed him for our Spring/Summer 09 Collection 'Powers & Lightning', since then he has gone on to shoot for Mario Testino.

Q.

Whose personal style do you admire and why?

A.

Probably Gareth Moody. I admire his personal style, and its inspiring to see someone reflecting such a strong prominent image of Australian Fashion.

Q.

What is your favourite city in the world?

A.

I love Melbourne, for me it has all of natures elements and is hub of creativity.

Q.

What is your favourite boutique in your hometown?

A.

We recently opened our first boutique on the Gold Coast titled the Cubic Collective, definitely worth checking out if you are in town. The aesthetic is minimal, white walls, stainless steel racking, polished concrete floors with a splash of plywood to accentuate an organic feel while still leaving the main focus on the great designs hanging precariously from our highly polished racks.
