Describe the first thing you ever designed

A.

Tim: The first thing I ever designed in terms of clothing was a brocade suit. Alex: I was a bit of an inventor - when I was about 7 I designed an evaporative air-conditioner.

A.

Tim: Clean with character Alex: Slightly eccentric yet civilized

Tell us something we might not know about you

A.

Alex: Despite all appearances to the contrary, Tim and I are not actually twins. He just copies my style. Tim: Actually, Alex copies me. Plus, he can fine-tune a Bosch K-Jetronic Mechanical Fuel Injection system on a 1968 Mercedes 280SE. He's also a brilliant photographer and does all our photo shoots.

What's your favourite piece from your current collection and why?

A.

Tim: The tucked-folds jumper, because of the texture and full silhouette that it creates. Alex: I love the simplicity of the pleated wool dress. The contouring and shape is minimalist yet complex, it's stunning.

Who is your favourite Australian model?

A.

Alex & Tim: At the moment we're liking Georgie Clark from Vivien's. Internationally we really like Abbey Lee - from Melbourne originally. She expresses a lot of attitude through her look. She looks like a doll with attitude.

Whose personal style do you admire and why?

A.

Tim & Alex: Natalie, a well-known Melbourne piano street performer. With her wild grey hair, her look and styling is endlessly interesting - the way she puts it together.


Q.

What is your favourite city in the world?

A.

Tim & Alex: Tokyo. It's addictive. And you never get tired of the food and the fashion.


Q.

What is your favourite boutique in your hometown?

A.

Tim & Alex: Fat and Design A Space, they're lovely people, very supportive, have great style, and we're also stocked there. Naturally.
